Our authentic Jefferson Candle Sconce is handmade from cherry and designed to hang on the wall in any place that wants a little candle light.
The top is open, and the glass panel on the right side opens outward for easy lighting of the candle. The interior mirror multiplies the light by catching the candle's flame and reflecting it back from many soft angles.
The design of this candle lantern was inspired by a wooden sconce hanging in Independence Hall in Philadelphia, where the Declaration of Independence was signed. While it's done in a true early American style that would have looked familiar to Thomas Jefferson, it also looks perfect in the modern home. With its simple lines and easy curves, this timeless accent wall piece will complement any style of decor while adding a little class of its own.
Our sconce's unique features:
-The fan details on the top are hand-carved by our woodworker.
-The Early American Life magazine featured this sconce in their Aug 2007 issue.
-Choose between modern and artisanal glass (+$135) for the glass panels. The artisanal glass is true mouth-blown restoration glass like they would have used in colonial times. This is what gives the glass walls their textured and sometimes bubbly look, as shown in the photos.
We finish the wood sconce with shellac and a simple stain mix to darken the cherry grain to its natural final color.
The candle and holder shown in the photos are not included and are for inspiration only. However, small brass hangers for the candle sconce are included.
Ships free of charge to the continental USA via UPS.
The glass panes ship separately from the rest of the piece. Simply slip the panes into place when hanging.
